LABRADOODLE PUPPIES NSW AUSTRALIA

We currently have a gorgeous litter of black Labradoodle puppies. These Labradoodle puppies were born on 17 May 2008, and will be Vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, etc at six weeks of age. They should be available to go to their new homes when they are eight weeks of age on 12 July 2008. If you would like us to contact you when we have further details, please complete and submit our Expression of interest form.

If you like to see more details of some of the items included free with your puppy, then please click on this link.

Our Labradoodle puppies are bred in a family environment, and are socialised with other dogs, children, adults, etc. They also enjoy their rural 5 acre property, including the dam.

The Labradoodle puppies are F1 generation (ie first cross between Labrador & Poodle), maximising hybrid vigor (or heterosis) and minimising inbreeding depression. And have purebred parents with champion bloodlines/pedigrees.

Please remember that if you are comparing a Labradoodle puppy from other breeders, that the second or so generation is likely to be more variable and have less hybrid vigour and more inbreeding depression than the F1. And of course, this may be reflected in the Labradoodle price etc.

For those who may be interested in more information re Labradoodle hybrid vigor, we have included a link above to a our page with further details etc.

Unlike some Labradoodle breeders, we can also guarantee the genetics of the Labradoodle puppies are solely Labrador/Poodle, as the parents of each Labradoodle puppy are purebred, and with pedigree papers.

Various dog breeds are known to be susceptible to hip dysplasia, such as Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, etc. And the Labrador Retriever used by us for breeding has been x-rayed and screened from this, prior to use. So as to mimimise the risks of pups having this condition.

Our experience with dogs extends for more than thirty years, and this cumulative knowledge and experience works to provide you with puppies of premier quality, A1 health, and which are playful, outgoing, etc. And so that you will be happy with your pup for many years to come.

As mentioned on our home page, each of our quality Labradoodle puppy is provided to their new owners with a range of items etc, which include:

all at no extra cost, and included in the Labradoodle price. And delivery of the pups can be arranged.

All of our puppies do not go to their new homes until they are at least eight weeks of age, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, the Labradoodle puppies are Vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, etc at six weeks of age. And then the puppies remain with us for the further two weeks to help their immunity respond etc to the vaccinations before they leave us.

Secondly, it is our understanding that it is also a requirement of law for dog breeders in NSW not to sell their pups until they are at least eight weeks of age. And we believe that this is sensible, so that the Labradoodle pups are of adequate maturity before going to their new homes, and to also allow for vaccinations response etc.

In relation to purchasing a Labradoodle puppy, we do not keep waiting lists etc. And we only offer the puppies for sale (ie to secure a puppy) after they are at least four weeks of age. This is part of our 'quality assurance', and we will not offer any Labradoodle puppy for sale unless we are satisfied with its development, progress, etc.

After the Labradoodle puppies are four weeks of age, if you would like to secure a puppy, then we ask for a deposit to be paid, and completion of our puppy form and agreement (various information is needed to enable completion of ownership, insurance, etc documents prior to delivery of the puppy, etc). Please see our webpage 'How to secure a puppy from us' for more details on the process etc.

The Labradoodle puppies that we currently breed are black in colour. The Labradoodles that we breed are from Standard size Poodle (ie not miniature etc). As we prefer the temperament etc of the larger breed rather than that of the small breed (eg miniature). For example, we note that with both the miniature and the toy Poodles, it reported that they can 'bark excessively'. And that with the toy Poodle, that they 'may snap at toddlers'. From personal experience, the only dog that has ever bitten one of our children, was a small dog breed. And we have never had any of these types of problems with the larger dog breeds.

It is also our understanding that both the toy and miniature Poodles can have congenital defects, such as heart defects, and collapsed trachea.

Of course, we are not saying that ALL toy and miniature Poodles have these characteristics etc. Just that it has been reported (and by reliable sources, eg Vets) that the behavioral patterns and congenital defects are identifiable with those breeds.

Please check back for updates etc. To see a few pictures of previous Labradoodle puppies, which we hope to add to soon, please click here.

And please remember, that all of the items mentioned above are included in our Labradoodle price, at no extra cost.

Please also note that some breeders intentionally expose their very young puppies to surgical procedures, which we feel are unnecessary, and have inherent risks to the health etc of the puppies. Some of these surgical procedures include (for example) being desexed (and under anaesthetic etc). With some puppies as young as six weeks of age, and many younger than eight weeks of age!

This seems to be mainly evident with some breeders of Labradoodles, and does not appear to be an accepted nor common practise with breeders of other dog breeds. Could this simply be to try and control the breeding of Labradoodles? And regardless of the risks, etc that their puppies are exposed to? We certainly hope not!

Hence, we do not desex our puppies, as it is well recognised/recommended etc by numerous qualified and experienced authorities (eg Vets, Councils, etc), that such surgical procedures are best performed when the puppies are older. Below are just a few of the various quotes, extracts, etc available at the time of publication, and which do not support surgery on six week old puppies:

'We prefer to desex all female dogs between 3 months and 5 months of age, and all male dogs between 4 months and 6 months of age.' (Russell Vale Animal Clinic http://www.animalclinic.com.au/puppy_pranks.htm)

'Six months of age is the best time to spay (if female) or neuter (if male) a puppy or kitten. At this age they are old enough to safely endure the anaesthesia, yet young enough that they still haven't come into heat (in most circumstances).' (Greencross Vets, http://www.greencrossvet.com.au)

'Four to six months of age is now the best time to spay (female) or neuter (male) a puppy or kitten.' )Adelaide Animal Hospital, http://www.adelaideanimalhospital.com.au)

'I recommend desexing your dog when they are about 6 months of age, as I feel that they are able to cope with the procedure better at this stage.' (Gladesville Veterinary Hospital, http://www.gladesvillevet.com.au)

'Six months of age is the best time to spay (if female) or neuter (if male) a puppy or kitten.' (Carlton Vet Clinic, http://www.carltonvet.com.au)

'Desexing can be performed when your pet is six months of age or older.' (Semaphore Veterinary Surgery, http://www.semaphorevet.com.au/interestingcasesdesexing.html)

'The best age to have a dog desexed is between six and nine months.' (Burdekin Shire Council, http://www.burdekin.qld.gov.au/services/animalmanagement/sexanddogs.html)

We do support the desexing of dogs, expecially where they are not to be used for breeding etc. However, we do not support this to very young puppies (eg six weeks of age).
